I was talking to a dear friend the other day. We were chatting about business and life and the launch of dote. We lamented the fact that we both didn’t start our own businesses when we were younger. That if we had, we would know so much more and be so much more aware.
Now I’m not here to lament or regret.
But I am here as your cheerleader. I am here for you to learn from my mistakes.
That said – if you’re reading this: start your business.
Yes, it’s scary and it’s hard and you worry it will fail. Push past that fear and sit down, map out your business plan and your goals. Figure out if it is viable, if you think you’ll see success there. If you map it out and think about it and you don’t think it will be successful, revisit your plan and modify what needs to be modified until you see success.
If/when you see the potential for success, then launch it. Start it. It will start slow, and you should totally expect that. But if you start it today, it will have so much longer to grow. As we all know and have been told a million times from a million different people – success doesn’t happen over night. I think what is missing from that quote is: success doesn’t happen overnight, so start today.
What I mean by that is, obviously success doens’t happen overnight. It’s a series of choices and showing up and putting in the work. It’s working hard and late hours and making mistakes and learning from failures. BUT if you start today. If you start making those choices and showing up today. If you start putting in the work today. If you make mistakes and learn today…then your success will eventually happen.
If you wait until you’re ready. Until you have more calm in your life. Until your kids are in school. Until you learn more…then you’ll spend a lot of time waiting and that time waiting, you could’ve spent doing and building for the success of the future.
